AI-powered automation in your business will help ensure application performance

Digital transformation is reshaping organisations across all industries, and it looks set to continue its upward trajectory. The tech landscape in particular is rapidly changing, and we're seeing a continual evolution of new technologies and solutions, with artificial intelligence (AI) having a significant impact. A recent DataProt report into AI stats and trends for 2022 found that:

  • The global AI market value is expected to reach $267 billion by 2027
  • 37% of businesses and organizations employ AI
  • Nine out of ten leading businesses have investments in AI technologies
  • 63% of consumers believe AI will be able to solve complex problems in the future
  • 72% of companies using AI believe it will make their jobs easier.
  • 59% of executives strongly believe artificial intelligence applications will improve big data in their companies

AI-based technologies bring their own challenges, especially for more traditional IT strategies which often have a hard time keeping up with the swift rise of digitisation.

In response to this, an emerging technology known as Artificial Intelligence in IT Operations (AIOps) is gaining traction among IT operations teams. It does what it says - leverages AI to help IT teams meet the challenges of rapid digital transformation, helping them to gain efficiencies and work more effectively and productively. As Gartner puts it:

"AIOps combines big data and machine learning to automate IT operations processes, including event correlation, anomaly detection and causality determination."

Most organisations are also looking to save time and reduce costs by using resources as efficiently as possible, while still delivering exceptional customer experiences. The rise of digital transformation - and with it, automation - means an organisations IT team needs tools on board that can automate trusted decisions at scale and reduce the need for manual human intervention.

Key benefits of AIOps

As mentioned by Gartner, AIOps platforms gather data from a range of sources into a centralised location, which enables and improves visibility over different departments. The platform them provides analytics and ML which works on the data, generating insights designed to improve IT operations. However, that's far from the only advantage of AIOps solutions. They also:

  • Eliminate noise - AIOps use big data and ML to generate correlated incidents, meaning IT teams can swiftly identify and then resolve areas that need immediate attention
  • Use historical data to provide predictive analytics - AIOps uses historical and real-time data to identify patterns. This enables IT teams to anticipate incidents and either avoid them, or resolve them swiftly
  • Improves efficiency and collaboration - as well as breaking down silos, AIOps helps IT teams to collaborate with not just with each other, but with other teams across an organisation. Because IT teams no longer have to spend time on manual and repetitive tasks, they're freed up to focus on more high-value, core tasks.
  • Improve the customer experience (CX) - as digital transformation accelerates, so too do customer expectations. One of the ways to enhance CX is with self-service options, so that customers can engage with your organisation in a number of ways. These days, offering a digital self-service option is critical to attracting new customers and retaining existing ones. AIOps provides self-service resolutions via a knowledgebase, so that customers can often resolve their own issues without having to wait for someone on the IT team.

To help you better understand AIOps and why it’s becoming increasing important for IT operations teams, take a look at this guide to Smarter AIOps. It covers:

  • Why AIOps? A look at the appeal of AIOps, bringing together application performance and resource management, and where you are on the journey to AIOps
